VINEGRETT -group exhibition

Art Exhibition VINEGRETT – 12 artists and just as many styles, visions, and personalities – a colorful and diverse mix where each ingredient has its own important place and flavor, but together they create a special and memorable experience, just like a good vinegret!

The exhibition title VINEGRETT is a delightful metaphor that reflects the combination of styles, colors, and emotions featured in the exhibition. We boldly bring together the works of different artists, each with its own unique character, while at the same time forming a cohesive whole, where every piece adds its own taste and color.

We are all part of the Painting ABC and Z course at Estonian Academy of Arts, Open Academy (which we warmly recommend, by the way!!!), and thus share a passion for art and painting. It was during this course that the idea of organizing our first group exhibition was born.

Below is a brief introduction to our wonderful artists. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Kätlin Loopere:

“My work mainly focuses on the beauty of the human body. Through painting, I aim to idealize the complexity of the inner world and capture its fragility. I discovered painting for myself a year ago and have been improving my skills through courses at the Estonian Academy of Arts.”

Nadežda Dementjeva:

A realist with a background in technical education, she never imagined that art would become her greatest passion. About 13 years ago, an unexpected wave of inspiration swept over her, changing her worldview in a way that she hasn’t been able to escape since. Four years ago, she founded her Hope Art studio in Peetri, a place where she can peacefully paint and enrich the world with her creative experiments. At the Estonian Academy of Arts, she has completed several courses, learning various techniques and materials, but oil paints and pastels remain her loyal favorites. “Who would have thought that such a serious relationship would grow out of this hobby!” she says, laughing.

Ave Bremse:

“Art is my form of self-expression and self-discovery! I enjoy creating graphics and painting with various techniques. Every time I pick up a brush or another tool, it’s not just the result that surprises me, but the whole process is a surprise! Sometimes, during EKA courses, things don’t always go as planned, but you learn to understand yourself even in those moments of failure! In any case, painting is one of the safest forms of art because you’re not disturbing anyone. Buy some paints and paper or a painting surface, and give yourself the chance to try!”

Kirsti Rautio alias Kipa

Having discovered painting only a few years ago, Kirsti has completely immersed herself in its magic. She is a positive-minded optimist, a doer, a coach, and an entrepreneur. “I love beauty and harmony around me, but I’m also eager to experiment with anything new and exciting. I’m especially drawn to art that makes you pause and think, ‘Wait a second…’ I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the EKA Open Academy courses and am already on my fourth one.”

Kirsti’s artist name, Kipa, comes from her time living and working in Finland.

Inge Paplavskis

Inge, a graduate of EKA’s Glass Art program, has in recent years discovered a new passion for painting. She has deepened her skills in this field through various EKA Open Academy courses and by attending several painting retreats. “Inge’s style is sensitive, her brushwork bold, her works painterly and at times even mystical, with an exceptional sense of color,” say her fellow students.

Anna Mikitjuk:

“My favorite themes in my paintings are flowers and nature—their beauty and diversity inspire me the most. I enjoy using a rich color palette that uplifts the mood and celebrates life. With my paintings, I aim to convey the positivity with which they were created.”

Hillar Mänd

Hillar’s journey into painting began quite unexpectedly three years ago with a birthday gift—a painting course by Aapo Pukk. What started as a chance encounter quickly grew into a longer learning process under Aapo’s guidance through various courses, culminating last year with a figure painting course at the Estonian Academy of Arts.

His works do not hide stories or convey clear narratives. Hillar’s paintings don’t tell—they invite you to feel, to experience the atmosphere of the moment, which is both timeless and intimately personal.

Tuuli Roosma (TUUL):

Coming from a family of artists, she grew up with the understanding that she, too, would become a painter. However, by the end of high school, she felt she had nothing to say as an artist and instead chose to study economics and produce television shows. Now, 30 years later, diving back into colors, she is completely amazed by the discovery of just how much she has to say to herself as an artist.

Elli Asser:

“In my daily life, I am a neurosurgeon, and recently, I’ve been finding inspiration in painting alongside my regular work. What captivates me in art is primarily the opportunity to visually express the ideas and deeper thoughts. While I enjoy thinking everything through in great detail, I also relish the excitement of experimentation and the unexpected discoveries art can offer. At the moment, I am most drawn to works created using mixed-media techniques.”

Diana Andriot:

“My love for art has been constant throughout my life. I continuously experiment with different styles and techniques, searching for my unique artistic expression. I have showcased my works in more than 15 exhibitions in Estonia and France. Each of my pieces reflects my personal journey, and I am grateful for the opportunity to share my art with the world.”

Heli Telgmaa:

“I have always been connected to art in some way. My father is a freelance marine painter, and I’ve always been an art and design enthusiast. From EKA’s interior architecture courses, I found my way to Maria Sidljarevitš’s composition course, and from there to the painting course. By nature, I am an experimenter and a seeker of self-expression, drawing inspiration for a variety of activities from my surroundings, people, and literature.”

Ingrid Morel:

“I am a wandering world citizen whose long journeys have included living in seven different countries and earning a master’s degree in political science. Recently, my path brought me back to Estonia as I discovered that there is something greater than the world itself – our inner universe. This discovery led me to painting and the EKA course ‘Painting ABC.’

There, I’ve met like-minded, open, and searching individuals – both instructors and fellow students – who have all turned out to be shining stars. It is they who have transformed what initially felt like a daunting cosmic journey into a uniquely enjoyable picnic.”
