Psychological metaphors
Art Exhibition
The third group exhibition by Tallinn’s professional psychotherapy community
“Psychological Metaphors” is the third collective exhibition by Tallinn’s professional psychotherapy community, bringing together the shared ground between psychological practice and visual culture.
The exhibition is rooted in the idea that making sense of the human inner world does not rely solely on verbal language. Personal experiences can also be structured and communicated through forms that transcend the limits of naming.
While psychotherapeutic work is deeply grounded in linguistic and narrative expression, this visual project shifts the focus toward image-based and symbolic forms of communication. At the same time, it is important to note that the exhibited works do not belong to the domain of therapeutic theory or clinical practice. Instead, they emerge from the artists’ affective perception and reflective self-inquiry.
The exhibition programme also includes four masterclasses applying art therapy practices, extending the conceptual framework of the show and offering participants an opportunity to experience metaphorical and image-based thinking through guided workshops.
“Psychological Metaphors” creates an environment where psychological experience, artistic self-expression, and public dialogue intertwine. The exhibition approaches art not merely as an illustrative tool, but as an autonomous form of perception, cognition, and communication.
